Stop Sexualizing Women

I’ve just spent the past ten minutes or so scrolling through Instagram, catching up on a lot of things etc, and I saw a picture that caused me to react so suddenly that I actually swore on my Twitter. Apologies for anyone offended by curse words but I’m certainly not going to be taking that down anytime soon, as I am officially pissed off.
The picture was of a young woman, possibly around my age or older, with a curvy figure, and the caption was, prepare yourselves, “white girls are evolving”.
I’m sorry, what was that?
I am sitting here still in complete shock right now that this is what our generation, and those younger than us, have become. Lately, I’ve seen way too many people pushing women into categories based on their skin or their body size, these same people are also women complaining about men doing exactly the same thing.
It honestly needs to stop.
I don’t want my younger sister having to face all the pressures of society to have the perfect body, although the perfect body doesn’t exist, society seems to think it does and, anyone who doesn’t meet the unrealistic standards is immediately made fun of.
First of, addressing the issue of looking at this young woman as though she is a piece of meat. I’m all for body confidence and body positivity, but that doesn’t mean you need to look at women for their bodies. These women that you sexualize in the media are so much more than that. They are smart, kind, independent, confident young women that don’t deserve to be sexualized like that.
The second thing I wish to address is the phrase “white girls”. I am officially done with hearing people separate women, and men, into different categories and having different stereotypes for them based on their race. We are all human, stop acting like the color of someone’s skin makes them a completely different person than someone with skin lighter or darker than theirs. It’s discriminating races as well as being completely racist. Quite a controversial one that, I seriously do believe saying “white girls” is just as racist as saying “black girls” or “Asian girls”. I guarantee the feelings I am currently feeling, anger, sadness, and hopelessness, is what these women feel when they are oppressed.
It’s the 21st century, why does racism still exist?
What I want all of you readers to do is to treat other women with kindness, compassion, and love. It’s a tough world out there for all of us, no matter what we look like, and we need to stop bringing each other down as there is way too much hate and pressure directed to women. Don’t follow society in treating women the way they do. We all deserve so much more than that.

That is so sad how they do this sexualisation to themselves – it’s not something that should be taken lightly!
