When I first started this blog last June, I had absolutely no idea where it would take me. I had just finished my first year at university and was in desperate need to find something to keep me entertained during the summer. I have always been passionate about writing so starting a blog seemed perfect. Blogging has already brought me so many opportunities over the last nine months, including allowing me to become a freelance contributor, as well as a social media and editorial assistant. I’ve also been given the chance to work with brands, reviewing products I’ve been sent and sharing my opinions with all of my readers. I never expected to get this far in such a short amount of time and I want to start putting a lot more time into this blog.
Over the past few months, I decided to really sit down and think about where I wanted to go with this blog. I was slacking on my writing and didn’t have time to focus on creating new content, so I gave myself a little break and took some well needed time away. I knew I wanted to keep on blogging for years to come but I didn’t like the way I presented myself. I used to rush my writing, favouring quantity over quality, believing it was much more important to get multiple posts out in one week rather than one really good piece. Along with this, I always found so many flaws in the layout and theme of my blog, so I did some research and decided that, if the relaunch went well, I’d upgrade my blog in June. I already know what theme I am going to buy but, for now, I am focusing more on the writing side, rather than the appearance of the blog.
My worst habit with my blog was that I never really planned anything, I just wrote whatever came to mind and published it on the spot. I want to spend a few evenings a week writing and planning down blog posts, improving my writing and really engaging with my audience. I don’t pride myself on my photography but I’m hoping to get a camera for my twenty-first birthday so I can really start practising taking proper pictures.
The next few months are going to be hectic. Not only do I have two big exams and assignments, but I’m going to test the waters with brand new content. Feedback is important to me so please continue sending me messages on Instagram and Twitter! I have a lot of ideas written down and can’t wait to share it with you all. It’s essential that this blog remains a position and light space, free from any negativity. The blogging community has been so supportive recently and I couldn’t have made it through my little writer’s block period without them. I’m definitely not over it, finding writing quite stressful, but I’m putting myself under less pressure and will be back on track very soon!
